The Appalachian Trail is a 2,200 mile long continuous footpath that runs from Georgia to Maine. I thru-hiked the AT in 2003 and wanted to share my experience here.

My first consideration when preparing for the AT, seven years before I actually did it, was about experience. I had never hiked or backpacked or even camped really. I needed to learn how to do these things and to me, that meant being prepared and getting out in the wilderness to learn how to use my gear.
